Surprisingly Simple

Today I went to the grocery store (again) after I dropped off Mote. And (again) I had the 2 younger boys with me. It must've been "Mommy Shop Day" today or something because when I finished parking the car I seen a Smith's employee taking 2 Shopping Cars from the cart rack back into the store. Lucky for me there was one more left in the rack. Nici and Siope LOVED it! Shopping was a breeze today!!! I had to tell them a couple times to keep their hands in the car, but other than that- it was great! They played "Cash Cab" while I shopped the entire time, and surprisingly the cart/car was easy to maneuver. I've used similar carts at different stores and it's always been so hard to get around those corners, but thank goodness that wasn't the case today. I wonder where these bad boys have been hiding all the other times I've gone to the grocery store!

And this time, I remembered my debit card =)

Photo of the Month {MARCH}

So I'm thinking that it'll be fun to showcase a photo for each month of the year. We went to the library on Monday and Nic thought it was hilarious to stand on the opposite side of the bookshelves and make funny faces at me. So here's our photo for MARCH.

Never Leave Home Without It

Today after I dropped off Mote at school I headed to Smith's with Nici and Siope. Since it was 1 adult vs. 2 kids and we were shopping for the entire week, I made them walk beside the cart as we went up and down the aisles. I'm not sure how it is for the rest of you Moms out there, but a trip to the grocery store is usually pretty draining for me. I'm usually always caught saying "Get off the floor" or "Put that back!" and "Move out of the way" or "Watch out!" ... (all of which are being spoken in my "we're in public" voice) while trying to narrow down the items on my shopping list. It took about a good 45 minutes until every item on my list was crossed off and we headed to the checkout counter. By this time (USUALLY) I can start to relax a little cause the finish line is within view. After I loaded all the groceries onto the moving belt and a few last reminders to the kids that they didn't need gum or candy from the racks conveniently located right by the checkout lines... I reached in my purse to grab my wallet. Before I could give myself an eensy weensy pat on the back, I noticed that my debit card was missing from it's usual slot. I glanced behind me to see another customer already loading his groceries onto the counter. Panicked I started to search for Ti Tonga's credit card that I always have on me. It's not there either. Gas card, library card, Mote's school I.D., CVS and Vons card... but nothing to help me pay for my total. I felt so bad for the cashier and bagger... and was a little upset that I might've just wasted an hour of my day. The cashier politely set my groceries aside and I quickly loaded the 2 boys back in the car and headed home. Siope was so confused as to why we were leaving without any bags. I didn't even bother calling Ti Tonga to tell him cause I already knew what he would say.... "Kiki, you do this ALL THE TIME." It's true. After grabbing my debit card from the kitchen counter I sped back to the store hoping that they believed me when I said I would be right back. I kept thinking that if they put my groceries back and I was forced to shop for everything all over again that I was going to go insane. Fortunately I returned to my cart still intact and after a quick input of my receipt details I paid for the shopping and was outta there. So the fridge and pantry are stocked for the week.... and it only took 1 day and 2 car trips to get'r done. Ugh!

Game Night

Last night me and Ti went for a walk with the boys and when we got home they decided that they wanted to play a round of Candyland. I could tell Siope and Nic were happy just to play, but Mote had his eye on the prize and wanted nothing but to make it to the Candy Castle first. After an intense game Siope came out the winner which he was super thrilled about and I swear I could see tears brimming at Mote's eyes. He is so competitive!
Someone suggested a new game of BINGO and Mote's demeanor quickly changed. He was in "game mode" all over again. We decided to let them play long enough so that each of them had a turn at winning. The look on each of their faces as they yelled out "BINGO!" was priceless. I didn't remember my camera until we were in the middle of Bingo, but I'm glad I got some shots of the action.

BINGO! Winner's Circle...

Mobile Request

This afternoon when I went to drop off Mote at school he picks up my cell phone and asks, "Mom can I have a phone?" I think I almost fell out of my seat. According to Mote, two other kids in his class have cell phones. Kindergarteners?!!

Okay, I had a hard enough time with my little brother getting a phone... and he's a senior in high school! And I didn't get a cell until I was 18 and graduated! So Mote- come back in about 12 years and I will think about it. Kids these days!

Kickin It- Season 2

Soccer season has rolled around once again. We decided that Siope wouldn't be playing this year cause he didn't show that much interest last season... but after going to the park last week and watching Nici play I felt bad watching Siope sit out. I asked him several times if he wanted to play soccer again and he said yes. So after reminding him over and over that he needed to stay on the field for the entire practice and that he had to do his best to listen and follow his coaches, we agreed to put the little booger back in. Today was the first day that both Nici and Siope played. Palmer and Heber both came over this morning, so in total I had 5 boys that I hauled over to Exploration Park with me. Good thing Ti Tonga was there to help. It actually wasn't bad at all. I stayed on the field to keep an eye on the boys practicing while Ti took the ones that weren't playing soccer to play on the playground. At the end of each hour- we switched and got out just in time to drop Mote off at school. After lunch and a quick treat naps were quickly in session. When naps don't even need to be enforced isn't that a sign that "fun-ness" was achieved? I think so. Here's to our new Wednesday routine.

From the Mind of a 5 Year Old

Mote has been writing journal entries in Kindergarten. This one was too sweet to pass up. I wish I had a scanner =(

Check out Grandma! lol I love his attention to detail. The rental that they drove actually was blue and I'm sure the boys were really able to turn Grandma's face green.... not sure why Grandpa's orange?
