BOO!

When we got to church today there was a poster advertising a ward trunk-or-treat right outside of the chapel. Mote and them noticed the Halloween decor and begged me to check out the poster up close and to read aloud what it said. There were pumpkins, a witch, and a ghost with wording across that read BOO! The boys could hardly contain their excitement when Nic all of the sudden points to the ghost and says,

"SHHHH! Look, it's the Holy Ghost!"

Ha! I eventually got them all inside where we sat down for fast and testimony meeting and were able to feel the real Holy Ghost =)

Kickin' It!

Friday couldn't have come soon enough for Siope and Nic. After going each week to watch Mote play soccer, it was finally their turn to get on the field. Two brave women from our ward (Sarah Wixom & Cheryl Johnson) decided this year to put together a soccer program for the younger kids who aren't in school yet. So we met at the park with our shin guards and cleats to meet a group of mothers and about 40 other kids! Siope played for the first hour while me and Mote watched, then him and Nic anxiously switched and we observed as Nici took his turn. I was amazed at the skills they had lined up to teach these little toddlers. You absolutely rock Coach Sarah and Coach Cheryl! It was a ball watching the kids learn how to play even though we almost fried under that 94 degree sunshine. Next time I will bring an umbrella!!

Game, Interview, Broadcast.. Oh My!

Yesterday was one of the busiest days I've had! After breakfast and snacks we headed to Mote's very first soccer game since our move to Vegas. Again, the weather was HOT HOT HOT! Hauling a wagon load of kids around while the sun beats down on you is not on the top of my fun list, but after a while of searching we finally found the right field. Mote was so excited! He was sweating like a pig, and half the time was kicking in the wrong direction- but he sure had fun doing it all. Mote scored 2 points... for the other team! Oh my humiliation! He finally got the concept of the game down in the last quarter and actually did pretty good once he knew which goal was the "winning" goal and which goal was a "No, No!" lol Our team lost horribly, but they had no clue- they all had a blast. At the end of the game Mote got his treat and declared that he loved his new uniform- good enough for me.

We got home and I had just enough time to get ready for my interview. I had gotten an email that one of the stores I had shopped at was hiring for the holidays. I thought "Why not?" and decided to go for it. I filled out an application not thinking that I would actually have a chance at retail at this specific location. I was surprised that they actually called me back and set up an interview. I thought it would be such a fun place to work at, but reminded myself not to get disappointed if I wasn't offered the position. I must've been crazy to think that I should even try without any retail or decorating experience... I practically had NO experience. But the interview went well and I was able to connect with the gentleman conducting the meeting cause holy shmokes I got the job! You're lookin' at Pier 1 Import's newest employee! I start Monday!! I can't believe how flexible they are willing to be with my schedule! I only hope I can last long enough to furnish and decorate my house =) So if any of you have your eyes set on something at Pier 1- holla atcha girl! haha
After my interview I had a little bit of time to unwind then I was off again. I carpooled with Sarah and Emily to the women's (relief society) broadcast at our stake center. I'm so glad I went! It was an awesome way to top off such a sweet day. It was completely refreshing and inspiring. After the broadcast we shuffled our way into the gym where the Elder's had decorated and set up dinner for us. I guess one of the Elder's is a caterer... the food was absolutely amazing! I felt so pampered. They served us our meal and were on hand throughout the evening to refill our drinks, clear our food, and serve us dessert.

Busy busy day, but lots of fun!

Help Push the Pledge!

I added a web badge to my side bar, but I still don't feel like that's enough to get the word out. I am a strong believer and supporter of the Pickens Plan. I know you have all seen his commercials. T. Boone Pickens has an amazing plan to help reduce America's foreign oil dependence. At current oil prices, we will send $700 billion dollars out of the country this year alone — that's four times the annual cost of the Iraq war. Isn't that crazy?!?! I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sick and tired of paying ridiculous prices at the gas pump, but guess what? There's something we can do about it! We can start by telling our Member of Congress to sign the Pledge to get America off its addiction to foreign oil. Too many of us complain complain complain, but don't do anything to better the situation. It's time for a change. Right now is a crucial time to let your voice be heard! Our economy will not get better on it's own. Please help me in supporting the Pickens Plan and pushing the pledge!

It's Always Fun When Grandma Comes

I just got back from taking my Mom to the airport and thought I'd blog about it real quick before everyone wakes up. It's not unusual for my family to fly out just for 1 day to spend time with my boys. The kids had no clue she was coming in. Mote and Nic were awake early yesterday so I asked them if they wanted to go for a ride- of course they agreed. They're able to recognize the airport as soon as we exit off the freeway so I was hoping that they wouldn't be paying close attention.
"Oooh I see an airplane! Mom where are we going?"
"Uuh... to the store."
"Oh. Okay."
They turned their attention back to their movie and nothing else was said until we pulled up to passenger pickup. "Grraaannndmaaaaaa!!!" They were so excited!
When we got home Siope opened the door as soon as he heard the garage and instead of fussing about us leaving without him, his eyes lit up and he sprinted toward Grandma for hugs and kisses.
It only took about a minute before she whipped out all her goods and went to work in the kitchen. She always checks a cooler full of Tongan food so that she can cook for Ti Tonga- not me, just Ti Tonga :P
Siope would not leave her side. The kids aren't allowed to climb up on the kitchen chairs, so he grabbed the exercise ball and rolled it right up to Grandma and chatted away as she cooked. Lu sipi, ota, and manioke mmmm mmm. Nothing beats Momma's home cookin!
Later that day we sat outside and watched the kids ride their bikes. Mote served us all cinnamon rolls that Ti baked, then we came in and got ready for bed. They all brought their blankets and pillows downstairs and slept with Grandma in the living room. This morning when I was driving my Mom to the airport I asked her how long the kids stayed up watching their movie. She seemed amazed at their ability to stay awake longer than her- mainly Siope. And then she said "Kiki, I fell asleep before the movie ended. I slept when the fat kid got stuck in the tube." Then she anxiously asked, "How did it end Kiki???" So I had to explain that Charlie won, he helped Willy Wonka reunite with his dad... yada yada yada... and they all lived happily ever after. haha this lady is hilarious! Then she said "I told Mote that I'm going to come back with Grandpa to watch his soccer game. I made sure he knew I was coming back. You know, in case he gets sad when he wakes up." Yes, the kids will be so sad when they wake up to find Grandma missing, but atleast we had a whole day of fun with her- for that I am grateful.

Keyshia's Return

Siope: "Mom, what happened to Teti's car?"
Me: "It's broken."
Siope: "Oh. Where Teti's car at?"
Me: "In the shop."
Siope: "Teti's car got owie?"
Me: "Mmm Hmm. Teti's car's getting fixed in the shop."
Siope: "Oh. Teti's car gonna get a shot?"

Ti Tonga got into an accident back in July and this is the conversation that me and Siope have had since then (seriously, like verbatim. Over and over and over again). When he found out that "Teti's car" was broken and in the shop he automatically thought that the doctor was going to give the car a shot to make it all better.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually sick of driving a rental car. I didn't think that was at all possible- I love driving rentals! But I've just had it. They've delayed the pick up date on our vehicle so many times that I've started to wonder if I would ever see my car again. Well here we are 43 days later, 2 rental cars out, and a whole lotta money out of pocket- she's finally back!

And she's lookin Fab! Welcome home Keyshia (I named her Keyshia after watching the Keyshia Cole "Let it Go" music video ;) I didn't get a chance to see the damages caused by the accident (which is proably a good thing- I think I would've had a heart attack)... but I know it was pretty bad cause Ti Tonga thought that the car was totaled. You can't even tell that she was hurt!
It's funny cause Ti Tonga got in the accident right before his birthday and me and the kids were trying to figure out what kind of gift to get him. When I asked Mote he said we should get Teti a new car to drive to work in. I told him we couldn't afford a new car and we decided to just clean Teti's current car and make it nice and pretty. So I bought a bunch of cleaning supplies from Walmart and before I could even tackle the cleaning task- Ti get's into an accident. When I found out we were finally getting her back I was kind of excited to use my untouched cleaners that have been sitting in the cabinet under the kitchen sink... and lo and behold- our dealership took the liberty of doing it themselves. They vacuumed, shampooed, and shined. Thank you Findlay Chevy- I take back all the horrible things I said about you when I thought you were taking too long on my car =)

Yay Me!

Another conversation I overheard that made me laugh...

Siope: "Me! Me! Me! Me!"

Mote: "Siope! Don't Say That!
Only rich girls say that!"

Labor Day Weekend

After our reunion in July me and Ti agreed that we wouldn't travel back to Salt Lake until the holidays... promises are meant to be broken right? haha We suck! We couldn't resist the 3 day weekend so we left for Salt Lake as soon as Ti Tonga got off of work on Saturday. We didn't overload on visiting friends like we normally do. The weather was kinda icky anyway. So we mostly just lounged around and enjoyed some good home cookin'. Since Nici's birthday fell on Tuesday my family decided to order a cake that both him and Siope could share. I am now happy to announce that birthdays are officially over with for the year- phew!

I also got to go to breakfast with my Moala girls. So much fun! My auntie Mele (Dad's sister) planned the get-together. It was a much needed time out for us gals. We talked about everything from childhood memories to politics. We shared laughs, gasps, and even a couple tears. By the end of our meal/discussion our waitress was probably worried that she was never going to get rid of us. Can't wait to do it all over again.

The drive back wasn't that bad. We made it home with no speeding tickets thank you very much =) It really is a treat to be able to visit Salt Lake- no matter how short the trip might be. The holidays are just around the corner, so I will be seeing more of Utah very soon.
